CARTOONS GALORE

Here are cartoons we are passing off as today's because nothing much has changed since they were first made.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As seen from the South

The cartoon exhibition featuring cartoons from Africa and Asia was held many years ago - precisely in 1991, before Foolscap was born - at the Culture Centre, Turku, Finland.

The exhibition was a runaway success, attracting thousands of viewers. But as usual, media coverage (of the Third world kind) of it was very poor. Thus, we promised ourselves that one day, we will give it a fitting coverage, even if it means waiting 20 years!

As it turns out, we didn't have that long to wait - only 9 years! Here, we reproduce a selection from three of the participants' entries. In the next issue of

Foolscap, we will bring you reports of another major exhibition, this time on African Comics and Cartoons, which showed at Artic Comic Festival, Kemi, Finland.
