Amputees have no hand in National ID exercise MEMBERS of the public that have had their hands amputated for committing minor offences are set to battle the governors of their respective states that presided over the amputation. Many of them fear that they stand the risk of not been properly registered during the on-going National ID card registration as they have no right hand thumbs for printing. Some of them thought of using proxies for the thumbprint but decided against it when they were informed it would be detected. When they meet their governors next week, they will negotiate a deal to allow them to use their right hand thumbs. They will also take the opportunity to find out how to upgrade their skills to become public office holders where stealing is regarded as “betrayal of public trust” which only Allah can punish. “I’m not really complaining about my amputation,” said Mallam Yaro, from Zamfara state. “I did wrong and got the punishment I deserved. What I don’t want to lose is my identity as well.” |
