Switzerland thanks Obasanjo on loot recovery SWISS Authorities on Friday thanked President Olusegun Obasanjo for giving
Swiss Banks sufficient time to work their way round the legality of handing
over looted funds to Nigeria. Addressing newsmen in Abuja after a secret meeting with President Obasanjo,
Swiss vice president, Ruthless Melzter said although Nigeria, a respected
regional super power could have dealt with Switzerland with ruthless precision
as America did to them shortly after September 11, instead it chose the
softly, softly approach. She said Nigeria’s humane approach, also known as dithering, occuring
at the most crucial moment afforded Swiss banks sufficient time to cover
their tracks. The Nigerian government was good to us,” she said. “They
left everything to us. We were ‘the judge and the jury’. They
even appointed one of our own, Enrich Mancini as their lawyer. We had
plenty of time to plug loopholes, which is why three years later, not
a penny has been returned.” |
